Voipcom Click-to-Dial — Getting Started
Voipcom Click-to-Dial is a free browser extension for Voipcom customers. It lets you place calls through your Voipcom phone from any web page — hover over a phone number, right-click a selection, or click a "tel:" link, and your phone connects the call. You also get quick access to your recent calls and call recordings, right from your browser toolbar.
Before you start
- A Chromium-based browser: Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
- An active Voipcom account — the same username and password you use for your Voipcom phone service.
1. Install the extension
- Open the Voipcom Click-to-Dial listing on the Chrome Web Store.
- Click Add to Chrome, then Add extension to confirm.
- (Recommended) Click the puzzle-piece Extensions button in your toolbar and pin Voipcom Click-to-Dial so its icon stays visible.
2. Sign in
- A welcome screen opens automatically after installation. Enter your Voipcom username and password, then click Sign in. (You can also sign in any time by clicking the toolbar icon.)
- You stay signed in for up to 30 days. The extension re-checks your session each time your browser starts, so you'll only be asked to sign in again if your session expires or is ended by your administrator.
3. Make a call
There are four ways to dial. With any of them, your Voipcom phone rings first — answer it, and we'll place the call to the number you chose.
- Hover to dial. Move your mouse over any phone number on a web page. A small blue dial icon appears beside it — click the icon.
- Right-click to dial. Highlight a number anywhere on a page, right-click, and choose Dial "…" with Voipcom. This works even for numbers the browser doesn't automatically recognize.
- Click a "tel:" link. Any click-to-call link dials through your Voipcom phone instead of your computer's default handler.
- Type a number. Click the toolbar icon, enter a number in the dial box, and click Dial.
US and Canada number formats are detected automatically. Hover-to-dial is on by default and can be turned off in Settings.
4. View call history and recordings
Click the toolbar icon to see your Recent calls. For more:
- Click See all to open your full call history.
- Filter by All / Inbound / Outbound / Missed, or search by name or number.
- Click any call to view its details — times, duration, caller ID, and more.
- Where a recording is available, click the download icon to save it. Recordings open in a standard media player such as VLC or Windows Media Player.
5. Settings
Click the gear icon in the popup to:
- Dark mode — use a dark theme for the popup (off follows your operating system's setting).
- Detect numbers on page — turn the hover-to-dial icon on or off (on by default).
- Sign out — end your session on this browser.
Troubleshooting
The dial icon doesn't appear on a number.
- Make sure Detect numbers on page is turned on (Settings).
- If the number is already a clickable "tel:" link, the hover icon won't appear — just click the link itself; it still dials through Voipcom.
- Some web apps display numbers in a way the extension can't read. Use right-click, or type the number into the popup instead.
Nothing happens when I click to dial.
- Open the toolbar popup and confirm you're signed in. If your session has expired, sign in again.
My phone rings when I place a call — is that expected?
- Yes. The extension calls your Voipcom phone first. Answer it, and you'll be connected to the number you dialed.
I was signed out.
- Sessions last up to 30 days and can be ended by your administrator. Just sign in again with your Voipcom credentials.
A recording won't play in my browser.
- Recordings are provided as downloadable files. Open the downloaded file in a media player such as VLC, Windows Media Player, or QuickTime.
Which browsers are supported?
- Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge (and other Chromium-based browsers).
Privacy
The extension collects only what's needed to provide the service: your sign-in is exchanged for a secure session token (your password is never stored), the numbers you choose to dial, and basic installation details for support. It does not read the content of the pages you visit. Full details: Voipcom Click-to-Dial Privacy Policy.
